Shannon & Liam’s Love Story – A Kinkell Byre Wedding

Shannon and Liam’s story began back in 2018, not with grand expectations, but a swipe on Tinder while Shannon passed through Falkirk. Her bio simply read, "Looking for someone to see Deadpool with." Liam jumped at the chance – although it would’ve been his third time watching it – and offered to join. Ironically, they never did see that film together, despite now owning two copies!

Their first meeting wasn’t even officially a date, more a test run. But over a relaxed evening wandering Glasgow Green, drinks, dinner at West Brewery, and a helpful dog named Toby who got Liam a seat beside Shannon, it became clear something special was beginning. Even Liam’s assumption he’d need a return train ticket that night – a misstep – became a green flag for Shannon.

The connection was instant. Time together was effortless, their shared love of movies, music, and humour bringing them closer. Their first holiday together, to Barcelona, revealed both Shannon’s fear of flying (Liam lost feeling in his arm) and the first time they said “I love you.”

Over the years, they built a life together in Larbert and later bought their first home just two streets away. Lockdown brought them even closer – with Liam setting up romantic “Hamilton” movie nights in a tent of fairy lights – though perhaps too many viewings of the musical wore thin.

Liam’s proposal was carefully planned to take place back in Barcelona, on the beach where they first fell in love. But when he dropped to one knee, Shannon’s first shocked response was “No!” – before quickly correcting herself with an emphatic “Yes.”

Their ceremony at Kinkell Byre reflected their story: lighthearted, emotional, and full of personal touches – from handfasting to personalised vows and heartfelt readings by friends and family. Their marriage is more than a legal bond – it’s a celebration of partnership, humour, patience, and love.
